A prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to Năsăud Court began an investigation on the freight train derailment between Telciu and Fiad, where Wednesday night six wagons of a freight train loaded with logs were sized and three were overturned.
Prosecutor Costel Sorin Cărlăţean from Năsăud Court Prosecutor's Office said Thursday that he has already done research on the spot for preliminary findings, but that he will further send the file to the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Court of Appeal Cluj.
"I did the research on the spot, I made the preliminary findings, but during this day (Thursday) I will further transfer the file to Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal Cluj, which will continue the research and will take over the case.
"We cannot yet rule on the causes that led to the derailment of six carriages of the train and the overthrowing of another three. Specialized expertise should be made", he said.
In his turn, Nasaud Railway Police Chief Ion Murasan said Thursday that after the research done on the spot found that there are no missing safety elements of railway infrastructure.
"We also checked the new railway to see whether they stole the safety elements, but they all were in place. The railway was untouched in this regard.
"Specialists from CFR Infrastructure, from CFR Marfa and the prosecutors will determine the causes of this accident," said Murasan.
According to the cited source, Wednesday evening a crane arrived at the scene that will try to restore on the rail the overturned wagons.
"In my opinion, it will not be easy to repair the railways as it is bent. Besides, is affected also the part of the bridge (the viaduct on which the accident occurred) and there has to be made consolidation works. It's hard to say how long will take until that section will be restored. I did not hear anyone to advance a deadline”, said the Police Chief Nasaud.
According to the cited source, the transshipping passengers began since Wednesday evening between Ştefăniţei Hill and Salva.
"CFR rented buses and the passengers are transshipped. There will be no problems from this point of view", he said.
Six wagons of a freight train loaded with logs derailed Wednesday night between Fiad and Telciu and three were overturned, the railroad being blocked on that portion.
