The leaders of PNL, PSD and UDMR concluded another series of political negotiations last night.
This new round of discussions took place in the context in which PNL voted yesterday morning for a new proposal for prime minister, that being Nicolae Ciuca.
At the end of the talks, he said that the three parties had largely agreed on the governing program.
He also said that the negotiations are at an advanced stage and most likely next Thursday the new government will be invested.
Nicolae Ciuca: We managed to move forward on the issues that were being debated at the level of the coalition. Important steps have been taken both in terms of what the social package means and in terms of the fact that we agree to find solutions so as not to increase taxes. We have also decided to have a percentage of 7% for investments in the government program, in the future budget.
In his turn, the social-democratic leader, Marcel Ciolacu, claimed that it has not been established yet which party will take over the position of prime minister.
It is known that there are two nominations, from PSD and PNL. Marcel Ciolacu specified that today, from 12:00, discussions on the governing program will be resumed, which will surely be completed.
Marcel Ciolacu: We did not reach a discussion to decide who will first have the prime minister. If we insist, as it is correct, if we do not have the first prime minister, the Ministry of Finance should be at PSD, those from PNL, just as correctly, insisted, if they do not have the first prime minister, to have the Ministry of Finance. We also had a discussion on the social package. We are still looking for income, the opinion of those from PNL is to not increase any taxes. We have reached an agreed schedule in order for Romania to have a government on Thursday.
Host: With the completion of the governing program PNL, PSD and UDMR can discuss the structure and composition of the new executive.
