Mountain rescuers in Hunedoara County warn tourists about the dangers on mountain trails. The paths became very slippery and harder to walk on after it snowed at night and froze them.
In the mountainous area of the ridge it snowed at over 1.800 meters, and the snow layer can reach up to five centimeters.
"During the night it freezes, which makes the paths and routes difficult in the morning. A layer of ice has formed over the paths that we know are well covered with stones and rocks ", says the head of the Hunedoara County Mountain Public Service, Ovidiu Bodean.
"Mountain rescuers recommend tourists to have winter equipment and boots with snow and ice grip, because cleats cannot be used yet due to the small snow cover. However, there is a risk of slipping on the stones on the paths, especially when descending. People should pay close attention to the routes and the distance between the points they want to reach, because the day is short and they may catch the night on the way back. Therefore, they must have a flashlight, a windbreaker and a low-temperature one. Last but not least, don't walk on the mountain alone. A simple slip or a sprain can lead to an unwanted end, especially since there is no mobile signal in the area. There is no one to help you, if you are alone", Bodean added.
The mountain rescuers from Hunedoara county will be present, this weekend, in the areas frequented by tourists, but also at their permanent areas from Rausor, Alunii Negri, Parang and Straja.
