Rescuers from Gorj intervened on the first day of school vacation in six emergency situations, a record number for this time of year.
During this period, mountain rescuers from Gorj are taking part in a series of training sessions in extreme weather conditions.
A first action focused on exercises for physical fitness and rapid intervention in extreme situations.
The next training exercise will include training with diving under the ice and safe surfacing.
During these preparations, the methods of signaling the intervention site using drones and mobile searchlights are also being tested.
Sabin Cornoiu, director of Salvamont Romania: "We have started a campaign to train rescuers in extreme conditions. We have done altitude ascents with touring skis, with moving with poles and ice axes, rescue simulations in high alpine areas, then we continued with rescues from frozen areas, from ice falls. We will continue with diving in frozen waters taking advantage of these temperatures and all these extremes of weather, which are in this period, in order to test our colleagues, to see how they react in very difficult conditions.
This week, Rescuers are ready to intervene on all the slopes in the country, including the Ranca area in Gorj county.
