More than 2.300 young Romanians will receive travel permits to explore Europe by train as part of the Discover EU Program.
According to a statement issued today by the European Commission, almost 61.000 young people from all over the EU will be able to visit the continent for free.
The selected candidates will travel alone or in groups of up to five people between March 2022 and February 2023, for a period of up to 30 days.
They will travel mainly by train, with a few exceptions, to allow those living on islands to participate. Last year's registration round was open to all young Europeans born between 1 July 2001 and 31 December 2003.
Exceptionally, 19 and 20 year olds were also able to register, as their rounds were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Given the uncertainty surrounding the evolution of the pandemic, all passengers will be offered flexible bookings through a new mobile travel permit.
The next round of registration will take place this spring.
