Mopeds can be driven only with driving license
People who drive mopeds will need a driving license since January 2013. For obtaining a driving license for mopeds, the minimum age is 16 years.

Since January the 19th 2013, persons over 16 years who want to drive a moped or tricycle will need a driving license for AM category.
This regulation has been published in the Official Gazette.
"The bill provides the implementation and application of the re mopeds and tricycles in the car category, aspect that leads to the license requirement for these categories", said for Agerpres the head of Public Relations of the Directorate for Driving Licenses and Registration vehicle, Michael outcomes.
Drivers will need to obtain a driving license for AM category, and those who want to drive a moped must obtain a license from an examination consisting of a theoretical test and a practical test in the polygon, said Mihai Enache.
For obtaining a driving license for mopeds, the minimum age is 16 years.
Drivers who already hold a driving license, regardless of category, will lead mopeds.
Subcategories B1, C1, C1E, D1 and D1E will become categories
According to new regulations adopted, for categories for professional drivers, the validity period will be five years, and for amateur drivers will be ten years.
Until now, the valability was for ten years for all driving license holders.
The Head of Public Relations of the Directorate for Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration said that another change entails moving from the sub categories to categories.
"Extension of validity for any license, starting January 2013, will be made after a proper medical checks held for a driving license category," said Mihai Enache.
The new traffic law requires that those wishing to obtain a driving license for motorcycle category to be aged over 24 years.
Currently, driving license for category A can be obtained at 18 years.
