Monitoring aggressors by electronic bracelets

Monitoring aggressors by electronic bracelets

Articol de Radiojurnal, 14 Aprilie 2021, 04:04

RADIO ROMANIA NEWS: The draft law on monitoring aggressors by electronic bracelets worn at the ankle received today a favorable opinion from the deputies from the legal and defense commissions.

The document initiated by the liberals stipulates the obligation of those pursued for acts of aggression to keep a predetermined distance from the victims.

Through amendments to the legislative technique, the deputies have adopted an improved form compared to the variant that has already passed the Senate.

PNL MP Ioan Cupsa said that when this electronic surveillance system becomes operational, people who commit acts of domestic violence will be monitored remotely and their victims will be protected.

Ioan Cupsa: In 2018, we adopted a decision approving the governing program of the PSD government of that year, which imposed, or wanted to impose, the operationalization of these electronic surveillance systems. The need is therefore pressing. Physical violence against close people, family members, is unfortunately a social phenomenon, which we cannot deny and which is growing.

Host: The bill will enter the debate of the Chamber of Deputies, which is the decision-making body in this case.
