Nicolae Timofti is the new President of the Republic of Moldova, informs the correspondent of Radio Romania, Catalin Gombos.
He was elected with 62 votes, all Members have voted in favor. Thus ending a political crisis that began in April 2009.

Before starting the vote in the Parliament of Moldova, Igor Dodon, leader of the Socialist group, said he will vote for the President, which means that there were 62 votes, enough for the president to be elected.
Nicolae Timofti said that his priorities are good relations with Romania and Ukraine, combating corruption, and withdrawal of foreign forces, it is about the Russian Army from the territory of Moldova.

He was elected head of state by a vote of 62 deputies, while the minimum required is at least 61 votes from a total of 101.
For Nicolae Timoti voted 58 MPs of the Alliance for European Integration, three Socialist deputies and unaffiliated MP Godea.
Communist Party boycotted the presidential election.
Nicolae Timofti is the fourth President of the Republic and was elected after a nearly three- year political crisis , during which deputies from Chisinau failed to elect a head of state.
Interim President from December 30, 2010 to date, was Marian Lupu.
From September 2009 until December 2010, was interim president Mihai Ghimpu.
The new president will be sworn in no later than 45 days after elections.
