Romanians can benefit from the tax amnesty decided by the Government, if they submit a request to the Tax Office to cancel their debts to the state by November 25.
The order on the procedure for applying the amnesty was published in the Official Gazette.
While for companies only interest and penalties will be written off, for individuals part of the debt - tax or contributions owed - will also be written off.
The tax amnesty procedure applies to budgetary obligations administered by the central tax authority, including customs authorities, according to the finance minister's order published in the Official Gazette.
These include taxes, duties, social security contributions, customs duties and other amounts owed to the budget.
According to the procedure, Romanians who had such outstanding debts to the state on August 31 can benefit from the cancellation of interest and penalties related to them, as well as a portion of the principal debt, which can be 50% if the amount owed does not exceed 5.000 lei or 25% if it is higher than this amount.
To benefit from the tax amnesty, individuals must submit a notification to the National Agency for Tax Administration by November 25 at the latest.
This notification can be sent by post, by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt or deposited at the registry of the competent central tax office.
For persons enrolled in the virtual private space, the notification is submitted electronically via this service. Within five days, ANAF will issue and communicate the decision of approval or rejection of the waiver of interest and penalties and will issue a tax attestation certificate.
For the partial write-off of the principal debt, the remaining amount must be paid and a request for write-off of the remaining amount must be submitted to the tax authorities.
