"A ministry for European funds will be set up immediately after the Parliament session in
the autumn", President Traian Băsescu said.
Invited at TVR (Romanian Television), he said he had agreed with Emil Boc on the owner of the portfolio, who must be a person credible in Brussels.
The president made reference to the failed attempt to sell the package of 9.84 percent OMV Petrom shares, adding that the decision not to sell below the established price was correct.
Traian Băsescu also referred to the need to reform the Ministries of Finance, of Internal Affairs and of Health and the fact that the border control operations would continue in order to reduce smuggling.
Referring to the talks with IMF delegation, the President said that accessing funds available through the new agreement with international organizations would be made only in special situations.
"We do not know what will happen on the markets after 2011. You know that the largest economy in the world, the United States of America, has serious financial problems. So I will not sail close to the wind; this is why I made this agreement - to rest assure that we have 3.5 billion from the IMF and 1.5 billion from the European Union.
"I hope to put an end to the agreement, there will be no need to access this money, if we continue the programmes, the reform of companies", Traian Băsescu said.
