The pension files will be digitized by August 31, announced the Minister of Labor, Simona Bucura-Oprescu. She also stated on TVR Info that public pensions will be recalculated.
Simona Bucura-Oprescu: Contribution pensions. We have two parallel processes here. The first of them is the digitization of all pension files. Almost 3.900.000 files have already been digitized until August 31. The task of the president of the National Public Pension House is to complete this process. The digitization of pension files will help us so that, having the data already in the system, the recalculation process will be easier. First, we will reform public pensions through the law we are coming up with, which, by the way, is also a conditionality of the Commission, after which we will recalculate pensions for farmers.
The Minister of Labor also said that pensions will be increased and that two work options are being considered.
Simona Bucura-Oprescu: If the new pension law comes into force, we will certainly apply the new law. If it is not in force before January 1, the indexing mechanism we have now will surely apply. Increase the minimum pension; now the minimum pension is 1.125 lei. One of the objectives of the new pension law is to bring equity, social justice for Romanian pensioners, but at the same time to increase the incomes of pensioners with low incomes.
