Hospitals are already preparing to deal with the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, said the Minister of Health, Ioana Mihaila.
She specified that in this sense the hospital units establish plans to return to the number of beds allocated to patients with COVID-19 in the previous wave of the pandemic and drew attention that the Delta strain is extremely contagious and the number of vaccinated people in Romania is relatively low.
Ioana Mihaila: We have a decent percentage of the population vaccinated and we have the experience of going through the other pandemic waves - these are the advantages. We also have some major disadvantages: the high percentage of unvaccinated population and the increased contagion of the Delta strain. Hospitals have made plans to return to the number of beds we had in the third pandemic wave, the Public Health Departments have centralized them, and we organize regular discussions with the Public Health Departments and the Department for Emergency Situations in order to respond as quickly as possible to the evolution of the Covid pandemic.
Ioana Mihaila also announced that meal vouchers for people who are vaccinated against COVID-19 could be issued in September.
