Minister of Defense wants 36 more F-16 fighters

Romanian Army endowment will continue this year with the acquisition of F-16 fighters, National Defense Minister Mihai Fifor assured yesterday in Arad.

Mihai Fifor: "Romanian army intends to continue to purchase F-16s. In the first phase, we will buy four F-16s to complete the squadron that we already have, and in the second phase we intend to purchase 36 more F-16s. We are in an advanced phase of discussions with several bidders, it remains for the Romanian Air Force to decide where this acquisition will take place and, of course, to prepare the necessary documents for this program to continue in the following years".
