The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, will participate today, in Istanbul, at the Romania-Poland-Turkey Trilateral, on the agenda being topics of interest on security with emphasis on the current regional and Euro-Atlantic context, 'deeply affected by Russia's illegal military aggression against Ukraine', the MFA announced.
The meeting also takes place in the context of the 10th anniversary of the creation of this format.
The MFA emphasizes the added value of this trilateral consultation format, launched at Romania's initiative in 2012, to strengthen regional and allied security.
According to the MFA press release sent to Agerpres, Bogdan Aurescu and his counterparts, Zbigniew Rau and Mevlut Cavusoglu, will address issues of priority interest on the NATO agenda, especially regarding the decisions to be taken at the Madrid Summit.
Also, the Foreign Ministers of Romania, Poland and Turkey will review the stage of implementation of the projects carried out in a trilateral format and will discuss ways to strengthen the dialogue.
The first meeting of the Romania-Poland-Turkey Trilateral took place at Romania's initiative, at the level of Secretary of State for Strategic Affairs, in May 2012, on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Chicago.
The creation of this format took into account the importance of in-depth cooperation between the three states on issues of common interest, mainly in the field of security, being dedicated to coordination within the North Atlantic Alliance, given that Romania already had bilateral strategic partnerships with both allied states, the MFA adds.
