According to the interim president of ANSVSA, in the case of two farms where, in the first phase, was discovered the aflatoxin in milk, the results received Thursday morning were negative.
The commercially available milk is good for consumption and does not represent any danger to human health, said today the interim president of the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority, Vladimir Mănăstireanu.
He said that until now were evaluated over 80 percent of the samples, being identified non-compliant samples from seven units. The milk was confiscated.
According to ANSVSA official, regarding the two farms where, in the first phase, was discovered the aflatoxin in milk, the results received Thursday morning were negative.
"In the case of two of the farms where were initially detected the aflatoxin residues in milk, the results received this morning from the lab shows that the milk has zero aflatoxin, which means that the measure ordered by the veterinary authorities and Food Safety, of daily change the recycling feeding of milk samples to see how and how much decreases the aflatoxin content, it was a good measure and today we can say that this milk can be consumed. At the other units, milk is sequestered and will be destroyed, "explained Vladimir Mănăstireanu.
He added that the self-control program of farms, collection centers and processing units will continue in the future.
On March the 4th 2013, ANSVSA inspectors collected from a farm milk samples under the self-control program, and, after the tests were run, the next day was triggered the alert through Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed.
Given that aflatoxins are toxins produced by fungi of the genus Aspergillus flavus spores and Aspergillus parasiticus, which grow in seed oleoginoase-products from oil production (meal, bran) cereals, was ordered sampling of food and their transmission for analysis.
The milk may contain aflatoxins due to consumption by the animal of food contaminated with aflatoxin, and it can be dangerous to health, according to the consumption of large amounts for an extended period.
