The former CFR general manager, Mihai Necolaiciuc, was released from prison after the the four arrest warrants issued for him were revoked.
This was possible because the Bucharest Cort upheld the appeal lodged by Mihai Necolaiciuc against the extension of the arrest warrant.
The court decision is final.
Mihai Necolaiciuc was extradited on 20 April 2011 from the United States to stand trial for causing the Romanian National Railway Company to lose about 70 million euros.
Because the other three warrants were revoked, the former CFR general manager Mihai Necolaiciuc, will be trialled without being detained.
The District 1 Court is to inform the prison director about the decision of the court. Then Mihai Necolaiciuc will be released from prison.
In one of the four files, on 16 February 2009, the prosecutors of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) sent Mihai Necolaiciuc to prison after being charged with two felony counts of misconduct in public office.
According to the indictment, between 2002 and 2003, Mihai Necolaiciuc, as general manager of CFR, signed 23 orders of purchasing spare parts for railway systems to SC. General Com Electrica SA Bucharest.
