The ROMspace team, made up of students from the Informatics High School in Bucharest, built a microsatellite that will be launched into orbit next year, with a SpaceX rocket.
ROM-2, nicknamed the "Space Sparrow", is no bigger than a Rubik's cube and is the first satellite of its kind built in Romania.
The radio satellite also contains a two-megapixel camera, for photographing the Earth from space.
Romanian high school students decided to build their first pocket satellite after the Alba Orbital launch team recommended it as a quick and cheap way to have a first space object in orbit.
