Subway unions express their worries regarding the possible shift from Ministry of Transportation to City Hall subordination considering it uncalled for.
Free Subway Union leader, Ion Radoi, says he was surprised by the hasty way- as he calls it- this step was announced and he does not believe it is fortunate to transfer a private management to a public one.
‘They did not pass any official document on this matter. It is not known what needs to be done. It is quite difficult to make such a change when dealing with transportation safety, as we are talking about a means of transport which serves every day around 700.000 people.
Despite all the efforts we have done to get more information and to discuss this issue between our specialists and those who come up with this kind of proposals, we still did not have a meeting so far. No one gave us an answer yet”, explained Ion Radoi.
Mayor Sorin Oprescu discussed with Premier Victor Ponta last week about the subway management take over and announced that investments for this matter will be continued.
The Premier said on Tuesday that in this kind of situations where big investments are at stake, what unions say does not count as much, even though the opinions of the employees’ spokesmen must be taken into account.
The unionists announced however that they are ready to call a strike if they fall into City Hall subordination.
