Messages on the Day of the Union of Romanian Principalities

President Klaus Iohannis emphasized in his message on the Day of the Unification of the Romanian Principalities that, in the current complicated political context, the Hora of the Unification is a metaphor for the need for solidarity, tolerance and empathy in the face of crisis situations.
The Head of State recalled that democracy and freedom must be defended at all times and citizens' rights and freedoms must be respected on a daily basis in order to avoid falling prey to populism and extremism.
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, for his part, said that the Union is an example of how an important political project undertaken in accordance with the will of the people can become a reality; he added that even today, modernizing a nation is a long-lasting process that requires constant efforts from the whole of society, starting with political leaders.
USR President Elena Lasconi noted that we are now more divided than ever and urged Romanians to be united and strong together.
