Romania does not accept the idea of mandatory quota for refugees - Foreign Minister Teodor Meleșcanu said today.
Romania is rather a transit country and it will do its duty as a European Union Member State, the Head of the Romanian Diplomacy said, after signing in the book of condolences at the Spanish Embassy in Bucharest.
Teodor Meleșcanu: "Romania did not accept the idea of binding quotas for refugees. In the framework of the Principle of Solidarity, I am convinced that the competent authorities, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will surely do everything they can so that things run smoothly. Fortunately for us, Romania is rather a transit country, the number of refugees is relatively small, the pressure of immigrants is for Central and Northern Europe, but we will do our best to do our duty as a Member State of the European Union ".
