President Klaus Iohannis spoke on Tuesday with US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry on the importance of a transparent, predictable, fair and stable legislative process to attract foreign investment in Romania, Presidential Administration said in a press release.
"The meeting has given rise to an in-depth discussion on the dimensions of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the USA, with an emphasis on projects of mutual interest, including economic and energy, in line with those agreed by President Klaus Iohannis and President Donald Trump during the especially fruitful meeting they had on June 9, 2017, at the White House", source said.
US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry expressed appreciation of the US for the results of the Three Seas Initiative Summit in Bucharest and also mentioned the high consideration that President Trump has towards the Romanian Head of State, mentions the Presidential Administration.
President Klaus Iohannis thanked US Secretary of Energy for the strong support of the United States for the Three Seas Initiative and the commitment of the US Administration to support the ambitious objectives of the Initiative, as set out by the Bucharest Summit, in terms of regional interconnectivity, deepening cohesion and convergence at EU level and strengthening the transatlantic relationship.
President of Romania expressed appreciation for the proposal announced by Secretary Perry during the Three Seas Initiative Summit on the Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation (P-TEC), assessing that this platform has the potential to bring added value both to the transatlantic cooperation and the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the USA.
Recalling the excellent state of bilateral political and security cooperation, President Iohannis has shown that the P-TEC substantially complements the economic sphere of the strategic partnership relationship between Romania and the US, and that this economic dimension must reach its full potential and must achieve at least the level of excellence of the political, military and security dimensions.
Special attention has also been given to energy security at European level and in the Black Sea region, Romania being one of the least dependent states from this point of view, with the potential to become a regional provider, through interconnection projects and strategic investment. Within this framework, Perry underlined the special importance the gas resources in the Romanian continental shelf of the Black Sea have at regional and national level, according to the Presidential Administration.
