According to National Coal Company Petroşani data, in the first two months of the year, the employees have acquired almost 20,000 days of medical leave, which is almost 54 years.
Even though the number of employees has decreased with 900 as layoffs in October 2011, the number of medical certificates of this year has increased compared to the same period of last year.
Most of medical leave days, over 10,000, have been accorded for usual affections, only 130 days of medical leave were granted for professional diseases.
The large number of medical certificates represents a constant problem for the National Coal Company and exists the suspicion that many of these are granted without being anyone really sick.
For leave days of emergency granted , a miner can be better paid than he would gain if he worked, because he is paid with 100 percent of the salary, while employees never get their full pay, but only according to achieved production coefficient.
