Medical authorities are optimistic about the evolution of the pandemic

Articol de Radiojurnal, 05 Februarie 2022, 00:46

Host: Nicoleta Turcu - The COVID pandemic in which the Omicron variant of coronavirus is currently dominant seems to be heading towards the end, according to Hans Kluge, director of the World Health Organization for Europe. In Romania too, the medical authorities are counting on a rapid evolution for the better, but for safety reasons they have decided to maintain the sanitary protection measures. The guest of the "Morning Call" section of Radio Romania Actualitati, the vice-president of the National Society of Family Medicine and the coordinator of the vaccinology group, doctor Gindrovel Dumitra, explained in what stage of the pandemic we are currently in.

Gindrovel Dumitra: Looking at the scale of evolutionism, we expect this year to be the one that in one way or another will bring light at the end of the tunnel. The protection provided by the disease against the Omicron variant is about 40%, and the protection offered by the vaccine against the Omicron variant is about 60%. I expect a slightly longer set period than the previous versions. As long as this Omicron variant doesn't kill people, then we'll be able to live in peace with it for a long time to come.
