The Ministry of the Interior is taking additional measures to ensure public order and safety during the May 1 and Easter holidays.

There will be more police forces, especially in crowded areas, said Police Superintendent General Bogdan Despescu.

"There will be about 25.000 colleagues on the streets. We will act with priority on the main roads, with air support, with the new fleet of helicopters from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. There will also be additional actions in the area of railway stations and airports. We have prepared for an increased influx of people. And I mention here the measures to reduce waiting times at border points, the organisation of joint patrol missions with Bulgarian partners, including sending police officers to Bulgaria in the context of religious events on the occasion of the Orthodox Easter.

We have identified 12.215 places of worship in Bucharest and 41 counties where we will have a presence", said Bogdan Despescu.
