Marmatia Technological High School from Sighetu Marmaţiei is among winners of Awards for Vocational Education and Training (VET) Excellence 2018, handed out on November 9 in Vienna by European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Competencies and Labor Mobility, Marianne Thyssen – for the Junior Achievement (JA) Europe category.
Prize was awarded for excellence in education and training, during the European Vocational Skills Week 2018, organized by the European Commission in cooperation with the Austrian Presidency.
Alongside other 16 educational institutions, Marmatia Technological High School was declared the winner of the "Entrepreneurial School of the Year" competition.
The third European Vocational Skills Week took place in Vienna from 5 - 9 November. Organized by the European Commission, the motto for the Week was “Discover your Talent”. The aim of the Week was to show that VET is a smart choice, leading to excellence in education, high-quality jobs and greater employability. This is one of the ten key actions proposed by the Commission under the Skills Agenda for Europe, launched in June 2016. The importance of the right skills is also recognized in the European Pillar of Social Rights, a joint commitment of all European institutions and Member States.
