The PSD leader, Marcel Ciolacu, was elected president of the Chamber of Deputies, and the president of the Senate Anca Dragu was dismissed from office, in her place being elected by vote the PNL leader, Florin Citu.
They will take office on Friday after the new government is sworn in. Anca Dragu considers her revocation an abuse of power and announces that she will appeal it to the Constitutional Court.
In the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu was elected with 217 votes for and 77 against, as obtained by his opponent Cristina Pruna, from USR. The election procedure for the Chamber of Deputies was a simple one, taking into account that the position was vacant due to the resignation of Ludovic Orban.
In the Senate, however, it was necessary to dismiss Anca Dragu, USR, from the head of the Upper Chamber. The reason was a decision of the Constitutional Court which says that if the configuration of the majority changes then the president can be removed from office, no longer having political support.
USR has already announced that it will appeal this revocation to the Constitutional Court. The new president of the Senate is the PNL leader, Florin Citu, who obtained 82 votes in favor and 25 against.
Both in the Senate and in the Chamber of Deputies there were changes in the composition of the permanent bureaus after the resignations of the parliamentarians who will hold positions in the new government.
