Concerns of the Fiscal Council are rejected by Prime Minister Ludovic Orban. He says there is no risk of increasing the budget deficit in 2020 and that the authorities are considering a plan to improve tax collection and fight against tax evasion.
Ludovic Orban: Draft budget contains in the chapter on expenditures the additional amounts to ensure the increase of pensions, according to the Pension Law, and the projected deficit is 3.59. As for 2020, there is no risk. Also, under 2021 we made the budget projection and there is no danger of increasing the budget deficit. Of course we must also follow the economic developments, we must follow the evolution of the collections to the state budget.
