A green Europe, where citizens are protected and fundamental rights are respected, is one of the ideas highlighted during the meeting Romanian Prime Minister Ludovic Orban has had in Brussels on Tuesday with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.

Also today, EU Chief Negotiator for Brexit, Michel Barnier, and Prime Minister Ludovic Orban stressed the importance of the withdrawal agreement, in particular in terms of protecting the rights of citizens.

RRA Special Envoy to Brussels, Petruţa Obrejan: Romania will support promotion of EU Strategic Agenda, Prime Minister Orban assured the President of the European Council, Charles Michel. An agenda that aims, in addition to protecting citizens and freedoms, to build a fair and green Europe in terms of climate impact, but also to promote European interests and values in the world.

Challenges the EU is facing must be solved in a balanced manner, taking into account the interests of citizens, said Orban.

Also this afternoon, Prime Minister was welcomed by Michel Barnier, Chief EU Negotiator for Brexit. The latter stressed the importance of the withdrawal agreement, in particular in terms of protecting the rights of citizens, while explaining that dialogue and transparency remain essential for the European project.

Prime Minister Orban also said that protecting the rights of citizens remains a priority on the agenda of the Bucharest Government, and that the future partnership with the UK must be ambitious, balanced and must take into account issues beyond the commercial and economic framework.
