Low temperatures have increased gas consumption in Romania
The company Romgaz Mediaş specified that because of low temperatures, it imported with 40% more natural gas in February, to cover the increasing demand.

The natural gas producer Romgaz Mediaş imported this month, with 40% more natural gas, to cover the increasing demand caused by low temperatures.
“If at the beginning of the month RomGaz has planned for customers the delivery of 71 million cubic metres per day, as a result of low temperatures, it was made the supplementation of imported quantities with about 40%.
“From 17th February to the end of the month, Romgaz will import another 22 million additional cubic metres.”, it is shown in a press release of the company.
According to the announcement , if the temperatures remain low until the end of the month, Romgaz will import natural gas in the coming days.
The consumption of natural gas in Romania has reached, on 1st February, a historic record of 72,7 million cubic metres, daily.
From 10th to 12th February, the company imported with 5 million cubic metres more than the originally amount scheduled for February.
Romania imports gas, through intermediate companies, from the Russian group Gazprom, as well as from companies in Western Europe, through the pipeline which links Arad, with the Hungarian village, Szeged.
