European Commissioner for Agriculture, Dacian Cioloş, recommends Romania to define investment priorities in agriculture.
He said in an interview for Radio România Actualităţi that European agricultural policy does not replace but completes and supports the national policy in this area, and this period is appropriate for the development of medium and long term strategies.
Dacian Cioloş said the way agriculture is supported in Romania "we need a vision, a medium-term and long term approach ".
"I think this year, that is an election year, including this topic, how we approach strategically at national and / or regional or local support, agricultural development is a topic that may be on the political agenda and is even more welcome as it is exactly when we draw up also the common agricultural policy and thus for the first time in Romania as a member is on the table of negotiations with the responsibility and full power, "said Dacian Cioloş.
According to European Commissioner for agriculture, local markets are not sufficiently widespread, despite their economic benefits and half of European consumers regrets that local products are hard to find.
Dacian Cioloş said that in 2014, in the Rural Development Programme will be new measures to support the marketing of small producers.
The amounts granted will be up to 15,000 Euros.
"There will be much more easily accessed financial support, without a very complicated file, which may go up to 15,000 Euros per project, especially for these small farms to be developed including the first processing or the packaging for those products to respond to some minimum standards and can be marketed, "also noted Commissioner for Agriculture, Dacian Cioloş.
