"Life Detector" campaign continues

The "Life Detector" campaign continues in 2025 in Neamt County, part of the "Together for Safety" program initiated by the Department for Emergency Situations. The action aims to protect as many homes as possible from the risks of fire and carbon monoxide poisoning.
We find out from Radio Romania News correspondent Gianina Buftea what were the most common causes of fires in Neamt County in 2024: "The high number of victims of fires due to smoke poisoning led to the inclusion of Neamt County in the national "Life Detector" campaign.
Ciprian Mitrea, Brigadier General: "In 2024, unfortunately, in addition to the damage, we also had loss of life. A number of 10 people died."
The number of casualties rose in 2024, in addition to fatalities, with 21 people injured and 29 rescued, compared to the previous year, when there were 17 injured and 10 rescued.
Brigadier General Ciprian Mitrea, chief inspector of the Neamt Emergency Situations Inspectorate: "We had 792 fires, including dry vegetation fires, and the most relevant causes of fire were, in order: faulty electrical installations - 115, chimney, chimney flue, faulty or uncleaned smoke vent - 114 and intentional action - 41."
Neamt is on the list of 20 counties included in the program, with 7.500 smoke detectors and 2.500 carbon monoxide detectors installed nationwide last year."
