Energy and agriculture are the main areas which need clear long- term strategy, believes the Chairman of the Foreign Investors in Romania, Steven van Groningen, attending the economic forum which ended in Bucharest.
The Council resumes on this occasion call for more stability and predictability in the economy.
Steven van Groningen argues that one of the problems of Romania is the tax code.
"We have a problem in Romania. There are all kinds of proposals for changes in the law. They are talking about changing the tax code.
"Obviously, an investor will not invest in the long term unless he has minimum of predictability for long term as well ," said Steven van Groningen.
Also, it needs a clear strategy for important sectors for the economy, he says.
"We need first a clear vision and strategy for the sectors that are important for the economy and that should at least include the agriculture and energy. If we have a clear vision, then it's important that we have clear legislation and in the field.
"A little too often, we see that the legislation is changed very abruptly, without a period of consultation, impact analysis. It is Important When we have legislation to be applied and to be applied to all. If we are talking about taxes, absolutely everyone will lead you to pay fees and the rules to be applied uniformly, "believes Steven van Groningen.
