The President of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, Liviu Dragnea, was received today, in Jerusalem, by the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. Specific areas of bilateral cooperation have been discussed.
"The meeting was pragmatic and very useful," said Liviu Dragnea in an exclusive interview with the RRA Correspondent Dragoș Ciocârlan.
Liviu Dragnea: "We discussed issues of common interest, namely a serious collaboration regarding the Romanian defense industry. We want to produce high technology in Romania, based on joint ventures.
We have also discussed the Sovereign Wealth and Development Fund and we have very much insisted on giving importance and encouraging Israeli investment fund or Israeli investors to join, as it will be a very important vehicle for our development.
We also talked about medical research, a field where Israel holds a top-level position and in Romania it is very much needed. We also talked about the 8 + 1 hospital network, the republican hospital that we want to open in Bucharest, the actual medical complex and the eight regional hospitals.
We were told that serious investors would be sent to us, as well as representatives of private clinics that are very well developed in Israel, and I would like to grow a very serious partnership. We talked about agricultural research, because we're interested.
We also talked about the area around the Măgurele Laser. It is a wide area and together with high-tech companies in Israel we would like to establish a Laser Valley concept, much like the Sillicon Valley, a very ambitious and very interesting project for the Israeli side also.
