President Klaus Iohannis welcomes Sweden's decision to apply for NATO membership, following the announcement made on Monday by Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson.
In a message on Twitter, the president stated that Romania fully supports a rapid process of Sweden's accession to the North Atlantic Alliance.
Klaus Iohannis added that once they join the Allied family, Sweden and Finland will make NATO stronger than it has ever been.
The two northern European countries close to Russia have decided to step out of neutrality and ask to be accepted into the North Atlantic Alliance after Russia attacked and invaded Ukraine almost three months ago.
