Today, President Klaus Iohannis received the European Carol IV Award from the Association of Sudetan Germans for 2020.
In his speech, the head of state stressed that one of the pillars of the European community is peace, and Russia, through its war against Ukraine, has attacked democratic principles, which are the foundation of societies.
President Klaus Iohannis also pointed out that 15 years after accession, Romania fully identifies with the EU, and Romanians offer the image of a society capable of compassion and a spirit of sacrifice.
Klaus Iohannis: A decade and a half after accession, Romania is actively participating, with solutions, in the common good of Europe, through the experience and expertise gained in its process of democratic consolidation. Romanians fully identify with the European Union as a political, economic and social project, which has contributed decisively to the modernization of our country. We all have a responsibility to support this project, because it is the only way that can ensure a long-term Europe of peace.
