The first convoy with military equipment from the American detachment, which will be deployed in Romania, of approximately 18 trailers, is at Rm.Valcea, where, according to the European transport rules, it was stopped until 22:00. The convoy now continues its journey to Constanta.
On Thursday, President Klaus Iohannis promised again that Romania would fulfill all its NATO commitments. The head of state spoke in front of the soldiers of the South-East Multinational Brigade from Craiova.
President Klaus Iohannis said that in the relatively short time since the establishment of NATO structures in Romania, significant progress has been made in terms of increasing operational capacity and the interoperability of the country's forces with those of the Allies.
The head of state pointed out in this context that NATO is without a doubt the strongest security guarantee for Romania:
Klaus Iohannis: As far as we are concerned, Romania will fulfill all its commitments, thus contributing to NATO's status as the strongest and most effective collective defense alliance in history. The current security developments in our immediate neighborhood prove once again that the measures taken by NATO are necessary, and Romania, in turn, is determined to fulfill its commitments, according to the decisions taken within the alliance.
President Klaus Iohannis also said that Romania will further modernize its military capabilities and increase development, paying special attention to better training its armed forces through military exercises carried out in the allied framework:
Klaus Iohannis: The commitment to allocate at least 2% of GDP for defense in the next period remains unchanged, which will lead to the continuous increase of our country's defense capacity.
At the end of the statement in Craiova, President Klaus Iohannis launched an invitation for other allied states to consider contributing with national forces to multinational structures in Romania.
