Klaus Iohannis, message for Romania's National Independence Day

Romania is a respected member of NATO and the European Union, a status that provides us with security guarantees at the highest level, President Klaus Iohannis said today in a message on Romania's National Independence Day.
Klaus Iohannis says that since gaining independence the Romanian state has made significant progress.
The President also said that as we look back at history, it is essential to reflect on the Romania we want to build for younger generations and what we can do today to ensure a future of prosperity and well-being.
The law making 10 May Romania's National Independence Day was promulgated by Klaus Iohannis in 2021.
10 May marks three historical moments: the beginning of Charles I reign, the Independence of the State and the coronation of the country's first king.
From 1866 to 1947, 10 May was Romania's National Day.
