The main elements of CFR Marfa privatization contract were approved Wednesday by a government decision and the document will be sent for approval to the Supreme Council of National Defense.
If no problems occur that prevent the privatization, the contract through which the Romanian state renounces at the majority stake in CFR Marfa probably will be signed in September after CSAT meeting, estimates Prime Minister Victor Ponta.
He told President Traian Basescu, who raised a number of questions about the creditworthiness of the person who won the bid, that he would take the responsibility of this privatization.
"CSAT is the public institution in which these elements that we do not know can be raised, if not, then it means we go further with the privatization and so, Romania fulfills some obligations which, I repeat, the former government assumed and former and current President of Romania and the government that I lead implemented them, "said Victor Ponta.
Regarding the institutional collaboration agreement between the government and the president, the prime minister said that it will be complied, although it is clear that after recent accusations Traian Basescu does not do this anymore.
"I believe that an institutional collaboration between the government and the president should be based on public interest, not private interests, demagogic, setting personal parties," said Victor Ponta.
He specified that the government will continue to focus on increasing the rate of absorption of European funds on economic growth, but also to improve Romania's image abroad.
