Romanian Prime Minister Mihai Tudose has met, on Wednesday, at the Victoria Palace, with representatives of the Romanian civic organizations, to discuss about the currently debated controversial amendments to the Justice Laws and the Criminal Codes, according to Radio Romania News (RRA) Reporter Petruța Obrejan.
Representatives of 43 civic organizations had three requests for Prime Minister Tudose: to address the issue to the Venice Commission, to prorogate the amendments to the Justice Laws and to immediately dismiss the current Justice Minister Tudorel Toader. Prime Minister seems to have accepted only one of the three requirements – addressing the issue to the Venice Commission.
Civic organizations also told the Prime Minister that Romania is at a time of major sideslip from democratic standards and from the rule of law, one of the participants said.
Overall, discussions that took place today at the Romanian Government did not have satisfactory results, therefore protests against the planned changes of the current Justice Laws must continue.
