Romanian Parliament meets, on Monday at 2:00 pm, in a joint session, for approval vote on the program and composition of the new Orban Government. Liberal Government needs 233 votes and a minimum number of MPs to be present for the vote. Prime Minister designate Ludovic Orban is confident his government will get Parliament approval.
Social Democrats have already announced they would not come to the plenary.
RRA Reporter Iulia Gherman: Prime Minister-designate Ludovic Orban has stated that he will appear in Parliament today for the vote of the investiture with the same ministers who were heard last week by the parliamentary specialized committees, even though three of them received negative opinions - PNL Senator Florin Cîţu, proposed for Finance, PNL President Bucharest, Violeta Alexandru, proposed for the Ministry of Labor, and Liberal MP Ion Ștefan, candidate for the Ministry of Public Works, Development and Administration. Ludovic Orban said that the vote in the committees for these proposals was strictly political and that he had complete confidence in his team.
Ludovic Orban: "Despite the boycott, I am confident that we will succeed in giving Romania a legitimate Government, which will start working from day one and that will solve the big problems that Romania is facing".
Dismissed Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă said that the Social Democrats will not be present in the plenary at the voting session, and that those who will ignore the party's decision and will support the Orban Government will have to leave.
Viorica Dăncilă: "We cannot run a program that is against the Romanians. (...) After all, the governing program will have to give answers to the retired people, the local communities, mayors, regardless of the political color".
Today vote in Parliament takes place one week ahead of Romania’s presidential elections (10 November).
