Italy - Events dedicated to the Universal Day of the "ie"
Articol de Elena Postelnicu, Corespondent RRA în Italia, 24 Iunie 2024, 14:57
Today is Universal Ie Day. The traditional Romanian blouse, included on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity List, is celebrated all over the country, but also in Romanian communities abroad.
In Italy, for example, several events dedicated to this moment have taken place in recent days.
RRA correspondent Elena Postelnicu spoke to some of the Romanians who chose to wear the traditional blouse:
Why are you wearing the traditional take here in Italy!
- Because I miss my country. I am a Romanian and I feel proud among foreigners.
Reporter: When do you wear it?
- When there are events and sometimes when I miss my parents, my birthplace. I put on a floral patterned gown, let's say, a pair of pants and go to an event with my girlfriends, it doesn't necessarily have to be a Romanian meeting. I feel so beautiful when I wear it!
So you wear it on the street without any problems?
- Of course! Ia is in fashion now.
On June 24th, you'll wear a traditional dress?
-No question about it, first at the Holy Church, then we walk around Rome proudly wearing our Romanian folk costumes.
