Students require the elaboration of a statute to regulate relations with the university where they study- is the reaction to a recent control of the consumer protection inspectors who found numerous irregularities in institutions of higher education in the country.
Many universities have not shown the rates and terms of payment or hiding information from the contracts concluded with students who for the most part do not know their rights.
Deputy Speaker of the Senate of the University Politehnica of Bucharest, Anton Hadăr, President of the Union Federation Alma Mater University, said for Radio Romania Actualitati that deficiencies of consumer protection could be solved if students would be more daring in the senate of the University.
"Every university the senates of universities also work with 25 per cent of students. I wonder what they did those students who represent students from a University?
"We have made a distinction between those universities that make them pile all and whistling blow that all State universities in Romania are in the same situation is wrong," said Prof. Anton Hadăr.
Charge for the transcript
Student organizations confirmed the existence of unwarranted fees, but also of unfair contracts completed studies with students.
"Irregularity in the universities are known for a very long time.
"There are charged fees for transcript, for example, which is an illegal tax, there are on various certificates, and there are also universities that do not have publicly displayed on charges that they practice and less so, in contracts.
"I believe that the statutes of the university student, for example, will be adopted, I hope I'm not later than a month and I think that as there are more checks and notifications on charges that were taken the legality and they will be resolved," a representative of an organization of students.
"Reformulation" of tax issues in universities
The Ministry of Education does not bear responsibility for the irregularities detected by Consumer Protection.
He would have to reword the taxes problem in universities, Anton Hadăr.
"The Ministry just to check if they have been violated aspects of education law. I think, however, that you must intervene and at the Ministry and to act in terms of the higher education institutions of state fees to be borne by the students, which charges to disappear, "added Anton Hadăr.
According to a survey conducted in 21 universities in the country by the National Alliance of Student Organizations in Romania at the beginning of October, only 11 of them had adopted the proper status of the student.
