Liberals want a clear separation between government and political dispute in the run-up to the elections and criticized the Social Democrats for their attacks on the PNL on Saturday from the podium of the PSD congress. PNL spokesman Ionut Stroe emphasized that Romanians must have confidence in the executive and that attacks on the governing partners are detrimental to this. He said that a decision on the possible continuation of the PSD-PNL governing coalition after the elections will be taken depending on the outcome of the vote.
Ionut Stroe: "We are committed to this coalition that ensures the political stability of the country and, of course, everything that stems from it, I am referring to social security, economic stability, the extremely important security area. I don't know what the Social Democrats are going to do or what they are expecting, given that they are furiously attacking, and this event of theirs on Saturday was exclusively about the PNL.
The most important and decisive thing is the Romanians' vote this fall. If they consider the right-wing side of Romanian politics worthy of public trust and, of course, they will give their vote, we will go our way. If not, politics, after all, is a form of dialog, a form of negotiation, of compromise."
