The effects of climate change are becoming more and more acute for Romanian citizens, President Klaus Iohannis warns.
He emphasizes that the climate transition must be fair, inclusive and compatible with economic growth.
At the Cotroceni Palace, the country report on climate and development, by the World Bank in collaboration with the Government and the Presidential Administration, was launched today.
Klaus Iohannis: One of the key conclusions of the report shows that, in the case of Romania, there is potential to significantly improve the quality of life of our citizens and, at the same time, to go through the decarbonization process necessary to achieve climate neutrality. The report advances a series of recommendations, which align with the directions that I have supported and promoted at national and international level in terms of addressing the issue of climate change. For example, the report emphasizes that people who are already disadvantaged from a socio-economic point of view are more exposed to climate risks and less resilient to them, both in Romania and internationally.
