President Klaus Iohannis announced that there will be no new restrictions on Christmas and called for compliance with the current ones.
After a working meeting with the prime minister and other officials responsible for managing the COVID-19 pandemic, the head of state explained that although there have been relatively fewer infections in recent days, it cannot be said that the situation is good, especially since a large number of Romanians with COVID are in Intensive Care Units.
Klaus Iohannis also announced that in Romania and in the rest of the European Union, the anti-COVID-19 vaccination campaign starts this Sunday, December 27:
Klaus Iohannis: It starts with a first tranche, rather symbolic, but already, immediately after Christmas, the next tranche of vaccines start to come and this will continue until the whole population benefits from the vaccine. These vaccines are safe, they are effective, they are authorized to the highest European standards, and we, alongside experts, recommend all Romanians to be prepared for vaccination.
