Investigation of the European Public Prosecutor's Office at the "Lucian Blaga" University in Sibiu, regarding the fraud of European funds

The prosecutors of the European Public Prosecutor's Office descended today on the "Lucian Blaga" University in Sibiu, targeted by an investigation regarding the fraud of European funds, with a damage estimated at 1.000.000 euros.
According to the investigators, the university's employees, responsible for the coordination of external relations services, would have drawn up fictitious contracts with various East Asian citizens in order to receive funding through two Erasmus mobility projects.
The Asians' signatures are believed to have been forged in order to transfer the money to other people.
The complaint that led to this investigation was filed by the current management of "Lucian Blaga" University, which cooperates with the European prosecutors and supports this approach.
