Press release: Due to the heatwave, the St. Joseph's Cathedral Concert on July 14 will be rescheduled to a date to be announced.
"If from here, from 5364m, from the base camp where we are now, the great expeditions to EVEREST depart, from the same place, I will start this year my great expedition - the STRADIVARIUS INTERNATIONAL TOUR, called "METAMORFOZE", says violinist Alexandru Tomescu.
Ciprian Porumbescu's "Ballad" or a J.S Bach's Giga were heard at the altitude of 5364m at the foot of Everest, in the base camp, played on the violin by the famous violinist Alexandru Tomescu, who is on an expedition to the Himalayas. The musician is inseparable from his instrument, the violin, which he has now also taken to the Himalayas.
The Stradivarius International Tour 2024, the 17th edition, called "METAMORFOZE"- comes with the works of J.S.Bach, probably the most fantastic talent in the entire history of music and proposes a series of pieces, which were originally composed for the cello.
"METAMORFOZE" is not only about the transcendence of music from the cello to the violin, transcribed by Alexandru Tomescu, but also about the profound change that this music brings to the soul of each of us - performer or listener. These are masterpieces that should not be confined to the sound of the cello - so the METAMORFOZE tour will be a violin royalty.
Music is the art that ennobles every human feeling and experience, elevating them to the ineffable plane, it is a spiritualization of matter through the miraculous power of sound. It is a lengthy process of elaboration, for each great composer both innovates and recreates, referring to the works of his predecessors before giving expression to his own inner harmonies.
The tour runs from June 25-June 16-July 16, 2024, with a total of 18 concerts, in Roman-Catholic, Greek-Catholic, Lutheran and Reformed cathedrals or unpublished spaces, of which 16 in urban and rural locations in Romania and two concerts in Bucharest, the duration of a concert being 75 minutes.
