From mid-October, people who need an international driver's license can apply for it at the Driving License and Vehicle Registration Services in the counties of their residence for a period of three years.
The international driving license is a legalized translation of the Romanian driving license in seven international languages. Such applications have already been registered in Valcea county.
Those who want to drive in countries in Africa or Asia should be aware that they cannot do so with a Romanian license.
For this they need an international driving license, a translation of the Romanian one into seven foreign languages.
So far, three applications for such a license have been registered in Valcea county.
Police Chief Commissioner Ion Ridiche, head of the Valcea Public Service for Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration: For the issuance of international driving licenses, easier ways have been foreseen for citizens to submit their applications, i.e. directly via e-mail permis.international@mai.gov.ro., but also physically at the offices of the Community Public Services for Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration, which will be responsible for forwarding the applications to the issuing authority. Along with the application, the following documents are also required: valid identity card, proof of payment of the international driving license fee of 46 lei. The deadline for issuing the international driving license is 30 days from the date of registration of the application. The international driving license will be delivered to the address in Romania indicated by the holder or picked up by the holder directly from the office of the Community Public Service, where the application was submitted.
Interested parties are advised to consult the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to find out exactly whether an international driving license is required in the country where they wish to travel and drive.
