Informal Meeting of the EU Ministers of Culture: Bucharest, 16 April

EU Ministers of Culture are having an informal meeting on April 16 at Palace of Parliament in Bucharest. Meeting takes place under Romania’s EU Council Presidency.
Event – to be chaired by Romanian Minister of Culture and National Identity,Valer Daniel Breaz – will be attended by European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Tibor Navracsics, representatives of the General Secretariat of EU Council and Romanian Government.
Two working sessions will be dedicated to the following topics: funding and innovation for cultural and creative sectors; European cultural heritage. Culture has an essential role in securing convergence and cohesion in Europe, as well as in raising awareness in EU common values. In this regard, one of the priorities of the Romanian EU Council Presidency is to create new opportunities for the cultural and creative sectors in Europe.
In the first working session, participants will discuss possible measures which should be adopted for unblocking potential of cultural and creative sectors. In an environment which is continually changing, accessibility to funding is still an important issue, as well as the measures that enhance the innovation and entrepreneurship potential of cultural and creative sectors.
Second working session will target the legacy and dynamic generated by European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. Results of Conference “European Heritage – shared experience and regional specificities”, scheduled in Sighișoara on 11-13 April, will also be presented in the second session.
