An informal meeting of EU Ministers and secretaries of state for European affairs take place on Monday and Tuesday at the Palace of the National Bank of Romania. European Commission's first Vice-President, Frans Timmermans, and European Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources, Günther Oettinger, will be present at the meeting organized by the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Meeting will be chaired by Romanian Minister Delegate for European Affairs George Ciamba.
RRA Reporter Carmen Gavrilă: "Agenda includes a debate on the EU Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2021-2027 and another discussion on the Future of Europe, focusing on priorities that should guide the work of the EU over the next five years, in the preparation of the new EU strategic agenda. As far as the Financial Framework is concerned, so far everybody agrees that the future budget will have to provide the EU with the resources needed to reach objectives of the next seven years in a balance between growth and convergence policies and response to emerging challenges. Difficult, however, is to mediate and reach a common conclusion on allocations for different policies. Objective of the Romanian Presidency of the EU Council is to advance talks in order to get a political agreement on this file this autumn".
Also on Monday, National Art Museum of Romania hosts an informal meeting of representatives of the European Commission with those of the EU candidate countries - Albania, Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey.
